"Indians" visit the McCreadie Suite!
The
famous country band "The
Indians" returned to the McCreadie Suite for their second visit after
playing to a full house in May 2007.
This year on May
14th the
theatre was well filled and everyone thoroughly enjoyed a great night
of
country music and also joined in singing some of the well known songs.
Thanks
again to Anne Carmody, local events promoter for making all the
arrangements
and thanks to all the volunteers who served drinks and prepared the
venue.

McCreadie Suite opens it's doors!
Merkinch
Community Centre celebrates
the official opening of new 200 seater facility on Tuesday 26th June
2007
After four years of
convening large community concerts and borrowing stage,
lighting and PA
equipment, the McCreadie Suite was launched - named after Anne
McCreadie who
has served the Merkinch Community Centre for 35 years.
Funding
was secured through Highland
2007, Community Regeneration Partnership, City Partnership, Inverness
and Nairn
Enterprise and the Common Good Fund to pay for this £122, 000
upgrade.
The project was led by Development Officer Elsie Normington who
provided the
catalyst for this development from the famous and well loved Singing
for Pleasure group.
The group has experienced phenomenal success and
is in big demand by many older people's groups where they spread their
'joy and
gladness' everywhere they go - getting people to join in singing and
sometimes
dancing too!
The Launch event was free to
everyone and the Centre was packed with local people coming
to see the
community show on stage and also enjoy the comfy
bleacher seating where you can
get a birds eye view of all the action.

The Centre has undergone refubishment with cream walls, leather suites, quilted wall hangings and classy prints on the walls and the theatre was the 'icing on the cake' for this popular Community Centre.
